Now that I see it written down, I think Winter is very dashing on a boy. I taught a girl called Zaya last year, so I’m pleased to see it in use.
I’m already slightly bored with Winter as a girl’s name – it seems much fresher and more interesting for a boy.
I don’t think I’ve seen Zaya before – I thought it was that perfect balance of being very rare, and yet not SOUNDING very rare. I’m not sure where it comes from though.
The mum of the Zaya I taught said she chose it because it was Persian. Her name is Kyam (she was named after Omar Khayyam), so she gave her daughters Persian names: Omeah Kyam and Zaya Pari. I know Pari is a Persian name meaning “fairy” bu I haven’t been able to find Zaya. It is very pretty though and suits her well.
I’ve seen Zaya as a Persian surname … apparently Zaya is more commonly given as a name in Mongolia though. Nice and multicultural.
Love Etta June, Belle Phoebe, Daisy Kathleen, & Millie Hazel.
Jude Winter is my favorite from the boys.
Clementine Blossom reminds me of the Strawberry Shortcake dolls I used to collect, although her name was Orange Blossom. 🙂 I still really like it though.
I guess it is a little Strawberry Shortcake though … very pretty though.
Ryker William? I wonder if his parents are fans of William Riker on Star Trek: The Next Generation.
My favorite name is Etta June. My favorite sibling set is Leo, Rafael, and Camilla. Ginger, Henry, and Clementine is also a pretty great group.
I think people use Ryker because it’s like a less popular Ryder. I would have thought if they were huge Star Trek fans, they would use the Riker spelling.
Etta June is ADORABLE. I also love Clementine Blossom! 🙂
