Ive noticed my child is featured here – does that mean we picked an interesting name?!? (we tried!) – how do you find these names?
I usually eliminate names that have appeared more than once that week (but not always), and when I’m choosing names I tend to go with any name which catches my eye. Some are a bit different, or have an unusual middle name, and others are just names I think are nice and well put together. If the same name pops up each week, even if not on the Top 100, I tend to include them as a sign to readers that these names might be rising in popularity. I also try to include names which are typically Australian, and rare in other countries. So hopefully it ends up being a good mix of all these names!
If you tried to be interesting, it probably interested me! 🙂
Most of them are from birth announcements in the paper, but I also include names I see of new babies announced in the papers in stories – most of these are from local papers.
It’s a great collection of names – wish I was having more kids, I’m name-inspired now! Great work!
Thanks! I think I know which one is yours – if I’m right, it was one I picked because I just really liked the name combination.
Couldn’t help but notice one of the siblings names – Jackenzie.
Hmmmm……wonder if the Jack means it’s a boy, or if it’s a girl with a nod to Jaqueline / MacKenzie?
I assumed it was a cross between Jacqueline and Mackenzie, and a girl. But it could be either I guess (and yes, sometimes names get chosen because of their sibsets!) 🙂
