I live in a country area in WA and in my town there have been heaps of babies over the past year:

This sparks a question: what is the popularity of the name Gypsy like in Australia? I’ve heard of those considering her, but this is the first time I’ve actually come across one. I have just checked, she was given to 8 girls in E&W last year.
It’s not popular enough to show up in the data, so it would be rarely given. I don’t see that much of it, but it never comes as a surprise, somehow.
Even it was only given to 8 girls in Australia each year (which doesn’t sound at all impossible), that would be a much bigger percentage of our population than in the UK.
