Eclectic list of names, that’s for sure. Not sure I’m overly enthralled by any of them.
Ebony Julian unique
Love the picture. I make that face when I see some of the names people come up with. 🙂
Jypzee is particularly eye-roll worthy.
That’s one I’ve seen discussed elsewhere online, it seems to be getting some attention.
(I think I usually make a *blink blink* face when I read the names on your site!) 🙂
Wow! A very eclectic mix of first and middle names. I think Lady Sapphire has to be my favourite.
It’s spectacular, isn’t it?
Some of these…..no words, I have no words!
🙂
So Australia has got a unisex trend going too? I do like some unisex names, but Cooper is crossing the line. All of these respelling hurt my eyes too. I do understand that it does SOUND more like Harpaa than Harper in an Australian accent, but really? Why? Dakota Cheyanne wouldn’t be spectacular in the US. I’m guessing it’s more common here. Just like we consider Thalia rare and special? Havana and Miami are interesting. I find Havana usable, but I’m not sure if Miami is. I couldn’t imagine yelling “Miami, come here” across a playground. But maybe it’s one I’d just have to hear a couple of times.
Unisex – yes we do, but it means something different here, from a sociological perspective (as far as I can work out).
Dakota Cheyanne – they are both taken from place names, and both names of Native American origin, and both from unisex names. It just seemed a bit … much. The American equivalent would be someone naming their child Toowoomba Bulli or something.
Miami – I saw quite a few babies named Miami, I guess it’s similar to Mia, Mimi, Mamie etc. Havana is getting some use too; perhaps it seems like a more feminine version of Haven?
Oh and Thalia is rare here too – it’s Tahlia that’s Top 100.
Amusingly, I once jokingly suggested that people pray for Cooper not to become a girl’s name – either you didn’t pray hard enough, or the Powers That Be did not make it a high priority. 😉
