Pingback: Famous Name: Digger | Waltzing More Than Matilda
It’s great to see Perry on a guy – on this year’s shambles that is X Factor there is a female contestant called Perrie. One of the youngest members of dance troupe Diversity, who won Britain’s Got Talent, is a lad named Perry – so the name has been on a reality show high here at the moment, but I’ve yet to see an uptake in usage.
I’ve only seen Perry on guys, but those guys are older than me, so great to see it used as a wee baby. I don’t know that it’s ever been hugely popular.
I like Dan. I think it is very underused considering the popularity of Old Testament (it is one of the 12 tribes of Israel) and nickname style names in the vein of Sam, Jack etc. I also see it as more modern than Daniel, Danny etc. It also fits the Grandad name trend. Not sure why it isn’t more popular?
Me either – it fits perfectly with the “one syllable nicknames” for boys, like Bill and Joe, and yet it’s a complete name all on its own with a Biblical heritage. I think the parents of Levi Dan are to be congratulated.
I was going to say the same thing as Eponymia. I think I’ve seen every day of the week except for Monday. I can check that off my list . 🙂
Digger is also new to me. I wouldn’t be a fan of it as a first name, but as a middle, I think it’s interesting.
I’m pleased with Digger because I suggested it as a boy’s middle name on Appellation Mountain. I didn’t get a very warm response, but I knew it would be a winner in Australia, and was sure I’d soon see one.
(A “digger” is an Australian soldier, and therefore a very patriotic name here).
Monday seems like a “real name” to me because it’s a familiar surname.
Graceborn and Monday are great middle names.
I thought Amelie Graceborn was really elegant, much more interesting than the standard Amelie Grace.
