Urthboy released a well-received album named Smokey’s Haunt last year; he is also a member of hip-hop outfit The Herd, and has his own award-winning music label, Elefant Traks.

Singer Alex Lloyd, born Alex Wasiliev, and his wife Amelia, recently welcomed their fourth child, and have named their daughter Belle. Belle joins big brothers Jake, Isaac and Elvis. Alex is currently working on his upcoming album, which will be called Urban Wilderness.

NatBassArticleMainSinger and actress Natalie Bassingthwaighte, and her husband Cam McGlinchey, welcomed their second child yesterday, May 21, and have named their son Hendrix John Hickson. Hendrix McGlinchey was born in a Melbourne hospital, and joins big sister Harper, aged 2.

Natalie was the lead singer of pop band Rogue Traders until she went solo in 2008. Rogue Traders had many successful singles, and their album Here Comes the Drums went platinum four times over. After leaving Rogue Traders, Natalie performed songs and duets for several compilation albums, then released her first solo album, 1000 Stars. It debuted at #1 and was certified gold; her single Love Like This was used to raise awareness by the Aids Council of New South Wales. Natalie has also had a successful career as an actress, appearing in TV shows such as All Saints, Neighbours and Stupid, Stupid Man. She has hosted So You Think You Can Dance Australia, and is currently a judge on The X Factor. Natalie has also co-written a book with her sister for young girls on self-esteem issues: Sistahood: A Journal of Self-Discovery. Natalie is often known to fans as Nat Bass.

Cameron or “Cam” was the drummer for Rogue Traders until he left in 2008. Since then, he has become involved with White Lion ROAR, an early intervention program working with at risk young people. He and Natalie started dating in 2006, and were married in 2011.

Hendrix seems like a great music-related choice for a singer and a musician, and a good match with music-themed sister, Harper.

843547-sam-burgess-and-yolanda-hodgsonNRL footballer Luke Burgess, and his partner Yolanda Hodgson, welcomed their first child recently, and have named their daughter Grace Luca. Grace Burgess’ middle name seems to be after her dad.

Luke is originally from England, where he played rugby league for the London Broncos, Doncaster, and Leeds Rhinos. He won Rookie of the Year after his first season with Leeds. In 2011 he signed with the South Sydney Rabbitohs, which his brothers Sam and George also play for.

Yolanda is a model of Aboriginal and Irish descent who made the Top Ten in Australia’s Next Top Model in 2011; she and Luke met at the launch of the Foxtel Series that year.

(Luke Burgess, British-born rugby league footballer, is not be confused with Australian-born rugby union footballer Luke Burgess, who welcomed his daughter Freya last year).

Violet’s floral name continues a family tradition, for Poppy and her sisters are named after flowers too. Poppy’s family was covered as a celebrity sibset last year, and Poppy’s own name featured on the blog for Remembrance Day.

Alistair-Jack-and-Livinia-Nixon-6380654Television presenter Livinia Nixon, and her husband Alistair Jack, welcomed their son Ted on April 8. Ted Jack joins big brother Henry, aged 3.

Livinia has been a popular presenter on Channel Nine for many years, hosting children’s television, game shows, variety shows, and special events. She currently presents the weather on Nine News Melbourne and Nine Afternoon News. Alistair is a Melbourne builder, and he and Livinia were married in 2009.

Look like celebrity baby Edmund “Ted” Gyngell has set a new name trend, although slightly worryingly, Livinia follows a parody of the crude teddy bear from the movie Ted on Twitter. I really hope she didn’t name her son after a Twitter parody account.

255240-sam-and-rachel-thaidayNRL star Sam Thaiday, and his wife Rachel, welcomed their first child on April 10, and have named their daughter Gracie Willow. Gracie Thaiday was born at 6.30 pm, and she wasn’t named straight away, as Sam and Rachel wanted to spend some time with her before making the decision. One of the names on their shortlist was Wednesday Thursday Thaiday (Thaiday is pronounced to rhyme with Friday). Sam is captain of the Brisbane Broncos, and has also played for Queensland, the Australian national squad, the Prime Minister’s XIII, and the Indigenous All Stars (he is of Torres Strait Islander descent). Tomorrow he will be playing for Australia against New Zealand in the Anzac Day Test.

NRL player Glenn Hall, and his wife Kylie, welcomed their son Hendrix on April 10, just a few hours before the Thaidays welcomed their daughter Gracie. Hendrix Hall has a brother Lachlan, who died before he was born. Glenn plays for the North Queensland Cowboys.

NRL star Daly Cherry-Evans, and his partner Vessa Rockliff, welcomed their first child two months ago, and have named their daughter Navi. Daly and Vessa must have had quite a few comments and questions on their daughter’s name, because Daly says that people are “reading too much into it”. Navi Cherry-Evans’ name is a variant of Navy, and said exactly the same way. Daly plays for the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles, and is also a member of the national squad.

NRL player Beau Ryan, and his wife Kara, welcomed their first child in January, and have named their daughter Remi. Beau and Kara are childhood sweethearts, and were married in October last year. As well as playing for the Cronulla Sharks, Beau also does comedy segments on Channel Nine’s The Footy Show, and Remi’s birth was recently announced on the show.

Rugby union player Luke Burgess, and his wife Emilie, welcomed their first child in November last year and have named their daughter Freya. Freya’s name is right on trend for mythological Scandinavian names, and is already gaining notice in Australia. Luke has played for both the Canberra Brumbies and the New South Wales Waratahs and is a member of the national squad, and in 2011 he signed with French team Stade Toulousain. Luke will be returning to Australia to play for the Melbourne Rebels in the 2014 season.

AFL player Jed Anderson, and his partner Nicky, welcomed their first child last week and have named their son Elijah. Jed, who is still a teenager, just made his début with the Hawthorn Hawks. Elijah Anderson was born in his parents’ home town of Darwin.

Rally driver Eli Evans, and his wife Madeline, welcomed their first child before Easter, and have named their son James. Eli is the younger brother of driver Simon Evans, drives for Honda, and recently won the Quit Forest Rally in Western Australia.

071935-the-fitzgeraldsRadio host Ryan Fitzgerald, and his wife Belinda Irons-Fitzgerald, welcomed their second child today, April 11, and have named their son Lennox Dean, nicknamed “Lenny“. Lenny Fitzgerald joins big brother Hewston, or “Hewie“, aged 3.

Ryan, known as “Fitzy”, is a former AFL footballer who got his start in the media after becoming a contestant on the 2004 series of Big Brother (he came fourth). Since then he has been a radio host on Nova FM, and is currently co-host of the drive time show on Nova 96.9, Fitzy and Wippa. He also regularly appears on Channel Ten’s The Project, and last year made his acting début on the Channel Nine drama series, House Husbands.

Belinda, known as “BJ”, married Ryan in 2008 in an unconventional football-oriented ceremony on Adelaide Oval.

193020-fifi-boxRadio and TV presenter Fifi Box, and her estranged lover Grant Kenny, welcomed a daughter on April 5 who has been named Beatrix Belle, nicknamed “Trixie“. Trixie Box was born at 2.30 pm, and her birth was announced live on Hamish and Andy’s annual Logie show. Grant has three children with his former wife, retired swimmer Lisa Curry, and their names are Jaimi, Morgan and Jett.

Fiona or “Fifi”is co-host of Fifi and Jules on the Today radio network, and is also entertainment editor on Channel Seven’s Sunrise. You may recall that Fifi’s radio partner, Jules Lund, also welcomed a baby girl not long ago. Fifi is the sister of Kiernan Box, who is the keyboardist for indie band Augie March.

Grant is a former Ironman champion who was a household name in the 1980s, and won bronze at the 1984 Summer Olympics. He has been awarded the Order of Australia, the Australian Sports Medal, and the Centenary Medal. Grant and his ex-wife co-own the Curry Kenny Aviation group.

Fifi did not choose her daughter’s name until after she was born, and also considered the names (or nicknames?) Coco, Lulu, Gigi, and even Fifi. The name Beatrix, with its nickname Trixie, was covered on the blog only recently under names which don’t chart in Victoria (Fifi’s home state).
