I really don’t like hyphenated names. They’re so common now, in the UK. I think they are supposed to look “grand” and aspirational, but mostly they don’t at all. Also I think sometimes hyphenating two complicated names is just “gilding the lily”, and it doesn’t mean double the cuteness, it just takes away the emphasis of having one significant meaning. Here’s a prediction, though! As hyphenating names is becoming so popular, I think there will be a further push for “unique” names and hyphenated three names will become the new trend. Wait and see! 😉
It’s another UK trend we are following, albeit more slowly. I’m always fascinated to see the range of names that have been put together.
I can definitely imagine triple-barreled names in the future – there’s already a precedent from the Continent.
