I met a kid named Aryan once, and all I could think was that his parents must be racist. Bad, bad name
There were several Aryans in the competition, and none of them were Caucasian, if that makes any difference.
Today ethnologists tend to use Aryan to refer to the people of northern India, and in Sanskrit, Aryan simply seems “noble”.
There are lots of strange names in the baby search this year
Wonderful finds. Envy? I completely get the sound (much like Evie) but its a strange word name to plump for. Whereas I don’t get the sound appeal of Kustom at all, unless they are a fan of the footwear.
I have heard people (I think at the Name Station) saying that Envy is a “modern virtue name” that they would love, if not for the meaning. I find it hard to not think of the meaning.
I may be wrong, but my immediate thought with Kustom was that it was connected to the kustom car movement, and that the meaning would be interpreted as “custom made, made to order, made to our unique specifications”. Which is a cute meaning, I guess.
Haha, shoes … I was going to say nobody would be called after shoes, but I bet someone has … 😉
